Do you work on the Great American Novel?...No
Do you do any of the crafty projects you have going?....No
Do you do Laundry?...Nope
Well if you are anything like me, you get in the car with your 3 favorite people (Sorry I can't figure out how to rotate the picture)
And drive for over an hour to the Dekalb County Fair, in Sandwich, Illinois. It seems this fair has been around for 123 years. Abby and I have been thinking a lot lately about how much we hate working for the City and what it would be like to retire (in 8 years...arghhh). We have both decided that living in the country appeals to us. So we decided to see what the country was like and if we got to have a funnel cake as well all the better.
So we looked at horses, cows,
sheep, pigs, goats, and rabbits. My sister is obsessed with cows these days and I openly admit my weakness for chickens. Then we went to the Main Stage for the ultimate in red neck fun a Demolition Derby. It was awesome. My Niece was standing on her screaming and clapping, my Nephew and I were taking bets on which one would win. (Not that it was really betting since we always agreed on who would end up the victor.)
The day ended with both kids saying at separate times that this was the best day they have ever had. All of this without any television or video games. There is a lot to be said for the country cars smashing into each other.
Tomorrow I plan on being a productive member of society again, but we shall see.
