My New Scarf

Well I noticed that I only seem to post the 10 on Tuesdays lately, which is better than when I wasn't posting at all.  So I figured I would shake things up a bit and tell you all what's been going on around here.  Two weeks ago I finished my first weaving project.

So last week I started a new warp for placemats for my mom's new house in Michigan.  Can't show the warp not because it is a surprise, mom doesn't go to Facebook, Blogs, or Ravelry, but because I forgot to take its picture.  Class is tonight so hopefully I will remember to snap a couple of photos.  But I must say I am loving the weaving.  So much so that I bought a loom.  I was saving up to buy an 8 shaft Baby Wolf when online I found a used 4 shaft for a heck of a lot less.  Normally when the used ones come up for sale they are in places like Denver, North Carolina or Upstate New York, but this one was being sold by a woman who lives 45 minutes from my dad and he has volunteered to go and pick it up for me.  I took it all as signs from the Gods that this was meant to be.

So other than the weaving Mabel, the worlds greatest/most annoying dog, has a massive ear infection due to allergies so I have spent a ton of time cleaning and putting drops in her ears. Fortunately she is a good dog and doesn't fight me.  And the vet said she was good enough to go to training friday night.

The boy child has hockey Monday and Wednesday nights, I have weaving on Wednesday, the girl child and I have ice skating on Thursdays and finally I have dog training on Fridays so live is very busy but fun.

I am still knitting but you can't tell what it is.

  

It is the Evenstar Mystery Shawl (Ravelry Link) and this is what 560 stitches looks like on a 16 inch size 3 circular needle.  So I have no idea what it will look like spread out.

That is all for right now.  Friday I might be able to post tales of Ice Skating providing I can walk.

  

Ten on Tuesday - Spring

Ten Signs Spring is on its way.

1. The flowers have started to peek out of the ground

2. The kids are begging to play outside

3. The boy voluntarily climbed into the creepy crawl space (undersupervision of course) to help me get out his bike

4. The dogs refuse to come in

5. The stores are strating to fill up with Easter stuff

6. I changed the front door decoration from the poinsetta wreath to the floral one

7. I have a constant headache

8. Festival season is beginning to pick up and work has gotten busier

9. I dont want to be at work, I want to be out enjoying the new found sunshine

10. After months of dreary weather and crabby people, people have started to smile again

Tonight is a quite one and tomorrow is Weaving II.  Yeah I am so excited

Ten on Tuesday

Hello All in Honor of the Holiday todays Ten on Tuesday is how to celebrate St. Patrick's Day

1. Eat Corned Beef and Cabbage

2. Wear Green

3. Drink Green Beer

4. Dance around to any Irish Rovers song

5. Knit on a cabled sweater

6. Watch the Quiet Man and wonder how Maureen O'Hara didn't just deck John Wayne. (But I love this move regardless of the odd treatment of women

7. Plan next trip to Ireland, hopefully this time I won't practically knock myself unconscious kissing the Blarney Stone.

10.  SInce I live in Chicago, actively avoid any South Side Irish Parade, granted they did not have one this year but in years past it just lead to  trouble.

Olympic Glory

I did it.  I did it.  I finished both of my Olympic projects.  As you can see by the sidebar I won both badges. I am so happy.  I did not think I was going to make it on the editing one but a boring day at work helped alot.  So now I am one step closer to the great american novel.

Sorry I cant figure out how to rotate the picture.  Also there was no one else home so I have no modeled shots. I tried on my niece but she is 3 and told me she didn't like it and wanted to know why I have not knit her a dress.

As for what I am currently up to I am working on a shawl based on the Lord of the Rings called Evenstar. It is a mystery shawl and I just began clue #2.  However the most exciting news is today I skipped out on work and went to my very first weaving class.  I think I am in love.  We did not even get to warp the loom yet but I love it.  I am going to make a scarf and here is a photo of my yarn choices.

  I can't believe I picked out 3 chenille yarns and a metallic, but they seem to work well together.  Next class is Friday so hopefully I will remember the camera and take some in progress shots.
