Winter Olympics

I love the Winter Olympics.  Ever so much more than the summer ones, I am not sure if it is due to the fact that these sports are so much more dangerous, or what.  I mean really where else can someone build up speeds of 90 miles an hour while wearing two skinny sticks and live to tell about it.  Plus I can't put my finger on it but they all just seems so wholesome. 

One of the reasons might actually be that it is winter and the Olympics give me the excuse to sit on the couch and knit or weave.  I love this.  So in order to feel more like a competitor I signed up for the Ravelympics.  (The fiber worlds answer to the olympic games.)  I am competing for team Mary's Faeries and attempting to finish the Botanica Medallion Sweater (Ravelry Link).  After two days of working on it I am reminded how beautiful it is and how monotonous.  Every 2 or 3 repeats I just want to put it down and move on to something more fun. (Like Evenstar Shawl, Thanks Tangled).  But I haven't yet.  I think this is the essence of the true Olympian, doing something you don't want to in order to reap the highest reward, In my case a pretty new spring/summer sweater.  So I will trudge on.

I also signed up for edittorrent's olympic endeavor to work on my manuscript from NaNoWriMo and get at least the first read through done.  This has been more of a challenge since I have been getting distracted by Apollo Ono instead of working.  But I am determined to prevail.

So my goals for the Olympics are:

1. To finish the sweater I am approximately 1/3 done with the outer band, but this still means I have about 40 more inches.

2. Finish first read through of my Great American Novel

Should be easy right. She says panicked.  I will leave you with a picture of the work in progress
